Leave it to the Brits to come up with a plan in the event of a zombie apocalypse. According to The Telegraph, the country’s contingency plans were revealed in a Freedom of Information request. The British government believes it has worked out the best way to cope with a zombie invasion.

How England Will Be Restored to its Pre-Attack Glory.

The request allegedly came from a member of the public. The Great Britain Ministry of Defense (MoD) replied: “In the event of an apocalyptic incident (e.g., zombies), any plans to rebuild and return England to its pre-attack glory would be led by the Cabinet Office, and thus any preplanning activity would also take place there.” Apparently the MoD’s role in such an event would be to provide support to the civil authorities.

Not the Only Plan in Case of an Attack from the Undead.

This is not the first or only prep plan for zombies. According to a Huffington Post article, HALO Corp., a security firm in San Diego, California, held a counter-terrorism summit on October 31, 2012, to train military and law enforcement on how to fight off zombies. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released “Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse,” a campaign that explains what items to stock up on, how to come up with an emergency plan and how the CDC will respond in the event of a zombie uprising.

Floridians have also drawn up plans to survive an undead attack. Okeechobee County, in South Florida, has written a 75-page comprehensive emergency management plan in the event of a zombie apocalypse. Click here to read that plan. Florida State University has also issued a zombie apocalypse safety protocol. You can read that plan by clicking here.

Just for Fun or A Necessity?

Critics have accused people who make Freedom of Information requests for subjects like zombies, vampires and wizards of wasting the time of government officials. However, in Florida, we’ve seen our fair share of zombie outbreaks first hand. Click here to read a blog on synthetic drugs that are now outlawed due to the risk of turning citizens into flesh-eating zombies. We believe these plans should be read and taken to heart. Florida Must Adopt Similar Plan for Zombie Attack.

Given the federal government’s failure to enact a similar plan, it appears each of the United States will be on its own in the event of a zombie outbreak. Given the incidents that have already occurred here, Florida can be expected to be on the fore-front.

Florida legislators will probably act in the near future to re-allocate some of the $40 million that went unspent on Medicaid last year to go for zombie defense. Zombie defense now! Secession later!
